Details of Research

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effectiveness of mining resource  management by the various stakeholders and how administrative practises impact on Human and Indigenous Rights. The study was be classified into four areas: (a) mining resource management, (b) sustainability of the socio- economic village livelihood, (c) environmental impact and (d) human and indigenous rights. Using Porgera Gold Mine in the Porgera Valley as a case study, the paper was investigate the socio-economics and social environment of the region.  Inclusive in the research will be a narrative approach to the European Union’s Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, United Nations Environment Programme's (UNEP) and the various implemented national and international governing policies.
